Job Description: The Case Manager will work directly with Veterans as the Veteran Resource Navigator for NAMI Missouri’s MO Veterans Connect Program.
The position will help Veterans identify needs, navigate benefits and services, and connect with VA services, community resources, peer support, crisis supports, and other services that promote stability and recovery.
The Veteran Resource Navigator will also help connect Veterans and military families with NAMI Missouri programs and peer supports, including NAMI Peer-to-Peer for Veterans, NAMI Connection Recovery Support Groups for Veterans, NAMI Homefront, and support groups for military families.
The position will have regular hours Monday through Friday. NAMI Missouri office hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. on Fridays. Full-time staff work 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend availability may be required with advance notice. Flex or compensatory time is provided for time worked outside regular office hours. The position is based in Jefferson City and will require some travel related to the MO Veterans Connect Program.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and have the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. The position requires an understanding of Veteran and military culture and the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with Veterans from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Primary responsibilities include working directly with Veterans to identify individual needs and goals; assisting Veterans with navigating VA benefits, health care, mental health services, and other available resources; connecting Veterans with community-based services and supports; providing referrals and follow-up; coordinating with VA and community partners; maintaining appropriate documentation; and supporting program data collection and grant requirements.
Because this position will work with Veterans who may be at risk of suicide, applicants should understand suicide risk factors, crisis referral protocols, VA and community referral pathways, confidentiality, documentation requirements, and professional boundaries.
Experience in case management, Veteran services, behavioral health systems, human services, or a related field is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may also be considered.
NAMI Missouri will prioritize applicants who are Veterans, military service members, or military family members, as well as applicants with demonstrated experience working with Veterans and individuals at risk of suicide.
